ONLINE SUBSCRIPTION MODELS

First Day Story has a subscription model likely to fit any online strategy.

Offer all content for free. Most First Day Story publishers begin by offering an introductory period of full online access for free. This provides readers a chance to become acquainted with your online edition, and publishers the opportunity to learn about the resulting traffic. Then, publishers most interested in maximizing traffic for advertisers may continue to do so.

Allow subscription-only access. Publishers interested in offering an online product, but concerned with cannibalizing their print subscription base, have the option of requiring a paid subscription to view any content.

Use our "Above the Fold" model. Above the Fold is designed to duplicate the effect of your above-the-fold content at the newsstand - urging readers to commit to the purchase with attention grabbing front page content. Offer your first several stories on your homepage without requiring a subscription. Readers who select a "below the fold" story are prompted to subscribe or login. Choosing just one story to go above the fold will draw targeted attention by displaying a large photo and more teaser copy prior to accessing the full story. Or, place up to twelve stories above the fold to offer more of the paper for free as the edition ages or to add current news between editions. Use this model to drive revisting traffic without even adding content. Just by rotating stories in and out of your Above the Fold showcase, your site will always have something new to offer everyone. For all these reasons, Above the Fold user-friendly hybrid is the most popular subscription model used by First Day Story publishers.

Within either of the above options that require subscriptions, First Day Story offers unlimited flexibility. Offer discounted or free online access to your print subscribers. Offer online subscriptions of any term. Issue complimentary subscriptions. Allow readers to buy gift subscriptions for others.

First Day Story's convenient and secure subscription forms can also process print subscriptions and renewals.

ONLINE ADVERTISING MODELS

First Day Story supports several advertising channels.

Online Display Ads provide a visual and often dynamic presence for your advertisers. Since First Day Story supports three of the most popular IAB standard ad dimensions, it is likely that your advertisers and/or agencies will already have the creative ready for placement within your online edition. Your advertisers will also appreciate the direct linking of ads from your online edition to their site. Depending on where it's placed, an ad in your online edition can instantly gain the advertiser thousands and thousands of links that are direct and crawlable to their site. This will greatly improve their search engine rankings, setting you apart from other online publications. Use the Ad Library within your Publisher's Admin Area to conveniently upload, store, place and manage display ads throughout your online edition. Supported file formats for online display ads include gif, jpg or swf (Flash).

Network Ads can be set to automatically run in any unsold IAB display ad position. If your state press association does not provide an online ad network (or remnant) program, we can supply ad network inventory for you and issue a monthly credit.

Directory Ads provide an easy, low impact sale while offering a very useful resource to your online readership. Your online community directory can display the business name, tagline, address, phone information and even an interactive map to their location. And just like your online edition's display ads, directory ads also provide direct links to the advertisers' websites. The community directory can be categorized in whatever fashion is most suitable to your advertiser base, with categories only appearing if there is a at least one active listing within.
